Gradle the Pistol

Gradle is postitively the most mischevious dog I have ever come in contact with. She can get on the dining room table (at 35 lbs). She adores trash and is just the most hard headed little baby I have ever met. She loves to dig and has uncovered and massive varmit tunneling operation in the backyard.

Puppy Sleepover

dear diary

well this has been one of the most exciting weeks of my puppin life! first i got to have my first REAL spend the night party at MY house. izzy came over on sat to watch the end of the auburn game and that must have gone well b/c deenie went crazy and we got treats, iz told me somefin about it bein "gameday" or somethin anyway this gameday thing is alright, b/c everybody pretty much stayed home and played with us all day, and watched the alabama game! o yeah and by the end of the night everyone was in a really good mood and jumping around and stuff, if i could only get them to do that all the time. o yeah then on sunday after iz left i got to do some major gardening, and leaf exploring....which i will never do again b/c deenie said i got too dirty and brushed me out til i looked like a puff ball, i mean seriously finger in the light socket! anywho i was so embarassed i had to go hid out in my crate and take a nap...the best part deenie thinks i was pouting...that will teach her to brush me out like that...

Oak Mountain

Last week Jeremy and I both had a day off together and decided we should take the dogs for a hike @ Oak Mountain. We loaded up Gretchen and headed off to the State Park. We wanted to hike to Peavine Falls. So we set out from the Peavine parking lot assuming the path would take us to the falls. Now the map said it was about 1.9 miles to the falls, so we figure 3o minutes we should be there. We hiked about 15 minutes until we came to a cross roads...the blue and white paths. We elected to stay on the white path. After 30 minutes of hiking Izzy heads for the creek and catches her second wind. Hatfield (not such an aqua phenom) refuses to go near the water for fear of a bath. We still hear no waterfall and realize there must be multiple paths and turn back.

On the way back to the car, Hatfield finally relents and gets in the creek because he can barely breathe from exhaustion and lack of water. So we walked a while in the creek bed with Izzy eating water as she walked. By the end, Izzy and I almost jogged out of the woods, but Hats and Jeremy didn't fare so well...maybe we should have started off with a shorter hike...(we did hike almost 6 miles). Wish I had a pic of Hatfield with heat exhaustion, it looked like he and Hols went for a run.

Farmer Maggie

Well Maggie Mae has been a busy little bee on the Helms compound. It's vegetable time again, and everyday like clockwork, Maggie goes outside with us to help pick the veggies. Yesterday however, she decided to try her hand at being a little cowgirl, and tried to herd all of the cows in the field next to our house. It didn't go so well, they just got mad and started running at her. Better luck next time Maggie, maybe with a little more practice she can be a little cow doggie. She is giving all the squirrels around my house major hell though! (Although we haven't figured out yet that they go UP the trees-- they just seem to disappear).

Camp Canine

Jeremy and I have been luchy enough to get to come to Charleston, SC on a whim for the fourth...mainly because Jeremy's parents are nice enough to keep our puppies, why I am not really sure. We stopped in Decatur Sunday night to drop off the dogs and grab some dinner. The dogs went to play outside while we were eating. When we got up to say good bye to the dogs we discovered a very DIRTY dog!!! Izzy had found the one mud puddle in the back yard and rolled around in it. So we left with Izzy and Jeremy's mom in the bathroom with Iz getting a bath. I had never seen such a dirty puppy!
